Green, Safe and Inexpensive Disinfectants

Take a deep breath and fill your lungs with aerosolized paraformaldehyde. Sit your delicate butt onto a toilet seat still wet with chlorhexidrine. Put a fork coated with sodium hypochlorite into your mouth. Mmmm.

Did you know that the disinfectants that you buy in the supermarket are all highly toxic?

And, they’re expensive.

The good news is that it’s super easy to make your own disinfectant that is not only non-toxic, but it’s safe and inexpensive.

Formula One – Eucalyptus

Mix 1.6 ounces of eucalyptus oil with a quart of water. That’s it.

You can pour this mixture into a spray bottle if you like. Label it clearly. Be sure to shake the bottle vigorously before using it.

Formula Two – Grapefruit Seed

Mix 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract into one gallon of warm water. That’s it.

You can pour this mixture into a spray bottle if you like. Label it clearly. Be sure to shake the bottle vigorously before using it.

We have several other formulas we’re going to share with you in our DIY workshops. You’ll be able to make them all, try them, and get us feedback on which products work best on various tasks.
